Wisconsin held an election

Friday, April 10th, 2020

An interesting fiasco of an election in Wisconsin.  I see the write up in the Washington Monthly and the National Review pointing the fingers in opposing partisan directions.  The Democratic governor either rushing an infeasible mail in operation of stymied by courts for any delay.  The Republicans either salivating at the voter dynamics crushing big city turnout while leaving areas you can jump in six feet away from anyone with no problem, or wondering why the thing couldn’t be put off.

We have no results, but I do have to wonder in strictly partisan terms — for a primary election, does it matter the discrepancy in partisan vote terms?  Maybe a rural tilt brings something to the Democratic side on state elections — any candidates moving into November different as a result?

I see an article suggesting Joe Biden needs to select a one of two black women for running mate to galvanize a base.  Kampala Harris is one of the two.  Question:  Given she failed to get any constituent in the primaries… And was a tad exposed there as well…

Then again, Biden garnered one percent in Iowa in 2008…

Hope for an answer someday

One simple question about those Pink Floyd playing outdoor concert givers who were busted by THE MAN for quarantine busting…

That the Pink Floyd way?…

The main question being … We’re they any good?

And they didn’t throw up slight show, did they?

Put it aside.  Controversial Nobel Prize Winner Bob Dylan has a new song out.  Saying boring things about the Kennedy assassination.  Well, you have to unwind with something in these tense times, so give the old guy a break.

There appears to be a contest brewing with the 7 o’clock pot and pan clanging.  Inevitable, I know.  It is where a few people want to get the last clanking in.  So it happens that the mass clanking ends, the cacophony over, and a second later…

Clank.

Then, from elsewhete, clank.  Round a few rounds at greater silence.

And then comes the standoff.  The only way it ends is with each participant, everyone trying to get the final sound in, does so quietly enough to convince themselves that, yes I was the last person.

…we blended in with the crowd

“One good thing we have going for us, when this is all over we will have a lot of healthy string bodies…”

I can’t wholly read where this overheard snippet is going.  We will likely be immune from coronavirus — a basic corollary which explains , for instance, Boris Johnson’s initial response off of the Spanish Flu experience from a century ago — those who most successfully quarantined were hit hardest by the second wave –and also lends some sympathy to those “small pox parties”.  Another direction would be in mode with what Roseanne Barr is getting blasted at right now — though that falls in line with the Twitter alarm hashtag of “boomer eliminator” ( Or whatever the term is from gen z) and is nothing I don’t hear cracked elsewhere loosely — formed in the same genre as speak evils on hiv…

Y’know, Boris Johnson’s evil thought — snuck out of a lab in Wuhan — isn’t too far fetched — better than what the Chinese government is selling on starting in the usa.  Note he didn’t suggest they did it on purpose.

“Yeah, I watched service Sunday.  I kinda liked it, but I doubt you will…”

We see Trump doing some politick on the “circus” half of bread and circus– bringing in the sports leagues on timetabling their returns – -and before crowds at that.  Apparently the wwe did their show, empty crowd — makes sense for them –they did a farcical show of force the week of 9/11.  It makes for novelty of nothing else.  The Mcmahons should figure out tweaks so from can follow function in this short term.  Otherwise everyone may just drop over to church, experiencing renewed attendance virtually… Though…

“The South is exempting churches. ..”

God provides, I guess, megaly.

IMG_20200404_173255. A with of the shifted Overton Window.

Out in corporate, the bobo Burlington hippies at Ben and Jerry’s begin chanting “Build the Wall!  Build the Wall!”

With some pushback, they settle in a compromise so build a fence instead.

Yesterday I noticed a business putting up brown boarding to their windows, the weathering of the coronavirus — preparations for the looting, if you will.  Today I noticed that after the wood was put up, they painted the canned thing with a loop of a version of their logo.  Gotta remain pretty and brand aware, I guess.

And just what the Hell do these guys (/gals) think this is?  9/11?

I’m getting used to it now

One positive I have not heard anywhere yet:  school shootings should be down this year.

The local alt weekly, and probably other sources, reports that the police mosques by a game of one on one contact basketball, told them to stop, and so goes social distance against contact participatory playground sports.  Here you have a gander on basketball as played on the courts during the moment of cornavirus.  4 playets, all around a hoop, taking turns throwing up baskets.  If the NBA does resume any type of season, we shall see a game whose overall quality has atrophied, defenses hampered by having to edge back to guarding within six feet,  but for free throw and 3 point season — those should have percentages break the record books.

Notably, the swing I had spied an illegal swinger on has the yellow tape around it I saw around the sets at a different park — though they I witnessed someone defiantly step over it and use it after muttering “oh, screw it.”

IMG_20200402_150010. No one is talking about the revolution.  What I hear are quick quips, of various degrees of seriousness and hope, on the coming looting.  Not a revolution — just ask New York city of the late 70s — (interesting chapter in the book Love Goes to Building on Fire on where various musicians were at the big one — some stealing high quality equipment to create better music with, so if it comes to that, we have some art that May come out of it.

The marijuana dispensary has its point of sale and buying on the sidewalk.  Interesting, as I thought the idea of legalizing weed was to get the business off the streets.  Then again, it’s not quite in the street, but just barely.

Sweden has been an outlier in terms of setting down quarantine laws.  Less the overriding interest in maintaining business or a bias against overarching doom, then the idea that for the Swedes no coercion is necessary — just let the measures be known and they’ll be followed.  We’ll see how they do on the curve.  The question is what is the state of the ever famous export of Sweden — the former dictator of North Korea would let you know — Swedish porn.  Clues to the answer may lie simply lie in typing “coronavirus” into search engine of porn sites — that “hub” if you will.  Naked people except for masks, if the image props are indicative.  Actually it reminds me of Mexican wrestling.
