proxy fight between the Republican establishment and the Trump insurgency coming up
Thursday, August 4th, 2016Okay. Just what the hell is supposed to happen if Speaker of the House Paul Ryan loses a Republican Primary to…
… after the last first-in-land behind John Boehner, Eric Cantor lost to a primary challenger…
Like Brat, Nehlen boasts the support of some major conservative movement figures. Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin has endorsed him, Sarah Palin promised to work on his behalf to defeat Ryan (though that has yet to materialize in any substantial way), and Ann Coulter is set to join Nehlen for a campaign rally in Wisconsin this Saturday.
Um.
Nehlen has fashioned himself after Trump in both substance and style, hoping to ride that same wave to his own unlikely victory. In one of his ads, Nehlen carries a box labeled “drugs” across the border and declares, “Cheap Mexican heroin is killing Americans in record numbers, and it has got to stop,” adding Ryan has “failed” at addressing the problem.
 Cool prop, bro!
Actually, watching this political ad, I’m struck by the concluding song. “Change comes to town, Truth Resurrection”. Sounds like a twangy Southern Christian Rock song… and it sends a signal to someone, doesn’t it?
Republican officials are exploring how to handle a scenario that would be unthinkable in a normal election year: What would happen if the party’s presidential nominee dropped out?
Wishful thinking on Republican officials’ thoughts — and probably less likely than even Paul Ryan losing this rae, but since we’re in fabulist land here all around, imagine for a moment… Paul Ryan goes down (Hey! It happened to Eric Cantor!)… and Donald Trump decides “nay” (Why? He’s running for a reason, isn’t he?)
… Is Hillary Clinton the new Republican Party leader?
