saturday night live and mitt romney — past and present

Monday, March 7th, 2016

This is a funny Saturday Night Live parody… maybe?

But tell me.  Did Saturday Night Live have or not have Donald Trump as a host earlier this season?

The answer: they did.  The parody becomes strangely toothless in that vein, as Trump’s rise in political prominence begins with his spot in mass pop culture.

Mitt Romney comes out onto twitter and puts some context into the 2012 endorsement from Trump.

If Trump had said 4 years ago the things he says today about the KKK, Muslims, Mexicans, disabled, I would NOT have accepted his endorsement

What, substantially, did Trump do to oppose the Obama Administration?  Did Romney accept, and ask, for Trump’s endorsement before or after Trump hyped up the big “Birth Certificate” issue?
Answer: After.

political feh

I’ve been musing over Daniel Pinkwater’s twitter feed.  And Donald Trump.  It’s struck me as hard to believe that he Pinkwater would be wanting to be twittering about politics, even the buffoonish debacle of Donald Trump as he paces his way to the nomination of one of the two major parties and is at least somewhere in the vicinity of the White House… even against the exasperation.

Years and years ago, I sent in to the “Talk to DP” forum which mostly in jest defended/supported the bopping yoga Transcendental Meditation presidential candidate of the Natural Law Party, and received the reply that they’re not doing politics, even weird ones.

Anyway, looking over the twitter account, I see his Trump missives have been cleared out.  See, for instance, this used to be a link to the news of David Duke’s endorsement — now it’s a “page doesn’t exist” page.

And seems to be the way the world oughta work.

And I suppose I should have some schadenfreude on the “Republican elite” that the major alternative to Trump emerging is the man they had been debating as who is the lesser and greater evil– until I note there’s a pretty good reason to view Cruz as a greater evil…

In the game of arts and politics… This is interesting — a thing that happens… delete your history — don’t want the Youth to see the cover and think smoking is cool, even if it was in the 1950s setting…

quick note on rip bob elliott

“Did you see that Bob Elliott died?”
I ask this question to someone, an older man I know who’s the only person I can think of who would to some degree or other care.
“Huh.  Didn’t know he was still alive…””Yeah, well.  I suppose time to look at old Bob and Ray skits on youtube…”
“He was much better than that god-awful son of his.”

I suppose I’d ignore that one.

hypocrites and all that

Paul Krugman and various liberals and Democrats make the case that there is no difference between the Republican Presidential candidate hurtling toward the nomination and upsetting the Republican Establishment — Donald Trump — and the Republican Establishment… and over to the photograph of Trump endorsing Mitt Romney, the figure stepping in for the last ditch effort to throw the whole thing to a dead-locked convention to — and don’t forget to vote for Kasich in Ohio and Rubio in Florida and look up and down the polls to figure out who might beat Trump in your state so we can rally about to … maybe… nominate Paul Ryan???

It is noteworthy that the way things are going, Trump wins the majority of delegates by June… it’s kind of the Democratic nomination fight of 2008, grinding inexorably toward Obama, but without any actual candidate shadow-boxing at him…
… and it is noteworthy, Romney has come out for Trump over Hillary, despite everything.

Libertarians and various Independents of a deeply cynical bent make the same point on Trump and, say, the Democrat hurtling toward nomination — Hillary Clinton.  Throw out your adjectives of why you hate Trump and differentiate it from what you know — or has built up as the reputation– of Hillary Clinton.

Cue photograph of Donald Trump at Clinton wedding.

And Hillary Clinton has her celebrities… Donald Trump, in addition to basically just being a celebrity, has his grouping of white and blue collar sports behind him.

… I suppose by the time we get to the general election between Clinton and Hillary, the one thing we won’t be dealing with is debating euphemisms on male body parts for other male body parts… but then what will the substitute be here?

Christie and arm chair psychologists

Thursday, March 3rd, 2016

Donald Trump’s big cheer leader of the moment goes up, gives a robotic performance declaring Donald Trump’s big Super Tuesday victory… “Tonight is the First Day of History”… and then… has to emphasize he was indeed excited on the inside.

Chris Christie on Thursday insisted the lengthy blank stare he wore throughout Donald Trump’s Super Tuesday press conference was symbolic only of the fact he was listening intently to the billionaire’s speech.
“No, I wasn’t being held hostage. No, I wasn’t sitting up there thinking, ‘Oh, my God, what have I done?'” the New Jersey governor told reporters in Trenton.
“It wasn’t the kind of circumstance where I’d be jumping up and down, cheering and smiling,” Christie said. “(Trump) was answering questions from the national press corps and I was listening.”

On drugs, maybe?

“All these armchair psychiatrists should give it a break,” Christie said on Thursday. “I was standing up there, supporting the person who I believe is the best person to beat Hillary Clinton of the remaining Republican candidates. It’s why I endorsed him.”
“I wasn’t upset, I wasn’t angry, I wasn’t despondent,” he continued, “I wasn’t anything other than happy that we had done as well as we had done that night and listening to someone give a press conference in front of the national press corps.”

Meanwhile, “Real Republicans” consider the possibility unseen since the 1896 appearance of Donald Trump’s dopple-ganger, William Jennings Bryan, and the Gold Democrats.  I suppose they could go with the Libertarian and possible two time Republican Gary Johnson, if not for foreign policy…

respected political journalist Wayne Madsen uncovers the truth behind Marco Rubio

Tuesday, March 1st, 2016

According to renown and much respected political journalist Wayne Madsen…

… … …

Marco Rubio did a lot of gay things in college.

There’s a photograph of Marco Rubio in a big crowd of naked men and foam.

And the news carries from there.

RadarOnline.com has learned that Presidential candidate Marco Rubio is hiding a gay secret in his past!

And oh boy, more photographs!

Another pic allegedly caught him performing a hunky gay dance after stripping down.

All thanks to the work from respected political journalist Wayne Madsen.

Trump (or the surrogate “Stump for Trump”) makes it an issue out there… somewhere.  (She googled and, oh wow look what you find when you google things!)

Madsen has reported that Obama is gay. The Nation writing on that conspiracy theory reported that Wayne Madsen “is the source on Obama’s visits to the bath house and who revealed how Obama used basketball pickup games to pick up men. Obama, Madsen says, had homosexual trysts with Representative Artur Davis, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Senate majority leader Bill Frist!”[36][37]

In 2012 Madsen self-published a book Manufacturing a President that said that Barack Obama was a creation of the CIA.

If the CIA created Barack Obama… why did it give Obama gayness… and what agency created Marco Rubio, and why did it fail so badly at its mission?
