thatch natch
I heard at the time of Ronald Reagan’s passing, that the difference between the United States and Great Britain would be seen at the time of Magaret Thatcher’s passing — that while in America, everyone was respectful and reverential to the former president at his passing, Great Britain would see a decent amount of the Dancing on her Grave. Â Oh, not by the Respectables and the politicos (might there be a back-bencher here or somewhere?), but enough by the rabble to be noted.
We’ll see. Â Other than something like a blast from old Sex Pistols members, I kind of doubt I’ll see anything… er… amusing. Â Can we get a “What the hell was the point of that Falklands War” at least?
Oh well. Â There’s always noxious Internet comments that will certainly be weeded apart and collected by some movement conservative site, and tagged as Communists.
In America, the political eulogies (into the twittersphere!) strike me a tad toward the ” — together with Reagan” land, for a number of the Republicans. Â And it seems every Republican feels they have to chime in on this. Â The most cringe-worthy comes in with “No chance of Heaven going wobbly now” — from some GOP politico I don’t think I’ve heard from. Â Because, you know… she’ll bring God to heel.
The one question I have is… what say you, Sarah Palin? Â Because — well, there was a famous snub, Thatcher rejecting any meeting with Palin — not wanting to pass a supposed torch of principles.
