Typo.

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

According to multiple sources, a trader entered a “b” for billion instead of an “m” for million in a trade possibly involving Procter & Gamble [PG 60.75 -1.41 (-2.27%) ], a component in the Dow. (CNBC’s Jim Cramer noted suspicious price movement in P&G stock on air during the height of the market selloff.

Randomness.

This page helps us visualize the difference in typo.

Here’s a lad standing next to a million dollars.  And then he stands before a billion dollars.

Now imagine those aren’t 500 dollar bills, but …

… Wait.  Do Brokerages issue stock units of 500?

The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange took the unusual step of declaring that they would cancel some trades that took place during the height of the selloff. Both markets said they will cancel all trades more than 60 percent above or below market that occurred between 2:40 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. New York time.

Drat.  That confuses my entire stock portfolio.  You don’t understand: when I saw Proctor and Gamble plummet like that, I POUNCED!

I petition to change the word “billion” to something else, for a similar difference that you see between “thousand” and “million”.  I suggest “housand”, but only to see what a TRUE bizarre stock fluctuation looks like.  (Actually, we’d go ahead and change the word “million”.  I think my experiment would work out better with that as the variable.)

………………………….

I’d be irresponsible if I didn’t mention the other causes cited for today’s stock market volatility.  People are brandishing Communist slogans in the country of Greece.  That fateful day has arrived: Capitalism has collapsed.  We must all now salute Karl Marx.

America is Full of Nuts.

A Georgia man has been arrested in Tennessee–authorities say he headed to Madisonville, armed and prepared to take over the courthouse.

Darren Huff stands charged of traveling in interstate commerce with intent to incite a riot and transporting in commerce a firearm in furtherance of a civil disorder.

The FBI says Huff traveled to Tennessee armed with a pistol on his hip and an assault rifle in his truck, intent on carrying out citizen’s arrests of 24 federal, state, and local officials, and on seeing that another man did not face trial for trying to do the same.

On April 1, Walter Francis Fitzpatrick had tried a citizen’s arrest of Grand Jury Foreman Gary Pettway. Fitzpatrick had previously tried to get the grand jury to indict President Barack Obama on charges of treason, with no success. Fitzpatrick was charged with disorderly conduct, inciting to riot, disrupting a meeting, and resisting arrest.

Indeed.  Type his name in google and this is the first thing that pops up— I guess the background to understand this story and what these people think they are doing.  Second thing that pops up?  Good lord.  But it gets better. And the man can’t accuse of putting his side of the story here.

SOETORO-OBAMA and Tennessee Democrat Governor PHIL BREDESEN are working closely together as chief executives constructing an unspeakable pretend public crisis in Monroe County Tennessee.
Liberal media correspondents are doing all they can to spread their fable.
The chief design of their manufactured crisis is to divert attention away from SOETORO-OBAMA’s TREASON and GARY PETTWAY’s approximate 27-year run as Monroe County grand jury foreman heading 54 or more grand juries (two grand juries in each year).
SOETORO-OBAMA and BREDESEN knowingly and falsely claim various loose collections of American Veterans and Militiamen planned a full-scale armed assault on the Monroe County Courthouse in Madisonville Tennessee.
SOETORO-OBAMA and BREDESEN are terrorizing and paralyzing the local citizenry using draconian, police-state tactics in reaction to their own invented threat. SOETORO-OBAMA and BREDESEN are using military-style force to instill widespread fear ensuring continued public tameness.

Anyway, back to the Mainstream Media.

The FBI said Fitzpatrick had drafted and issued citizen’s arrest warrants for the state, local, and federal officials.Fitzpatrick was headed to trial on his charges on April 20.FBI officials say Huff didn’t want Fitzpatrick to go to trial, so planned to head to Tennessee. The FBI interviewed a bank manager who said Huff told him on April 15 that Fitzpatrick had been falsely arrested, that Huff was in the Georgia militia, and that 8 or 9 other militia groups were headed to Madisonville on April 20 to “take over the city.” The bank manager said Huff told him he’d see Huff’s actions on the noon news.FBI agents interviewed Huff at his home on April 19, and Huff said he would be traveling to Tennessee to help Fitzpatrick get the charges against him dropped. Huff told agents there would be no violence unless they were provoked into violence.
Still, he told agents he planned to travel with his Colt .45 handgun and AK-47 rifle.

Then, on April 20, officers in Madisonville reported numerous individuals in possession of openly displayed and concealed firearms, in the area around the courthouse.

FBI agents had observed Huff leaving his home around 6:15 that morning. Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers pulled him over in Sweetwater for traffic violations of traffic control device, registration law, and following too closely.

Wait.  Wait.  I think the man may have something here.  The police were looking for any excuse to pull him over.

The troopers said Huff volunteered that he planned to travel to Madisonville to take over the courthouse, to arrest the people on Fitzpatrick’s warrants–who he termed “domestic enemies of the United States engaged in treason”–and to turn those arrested over to state police to place in jail. The troopers said Huff told them if they didn’t have enough people on April 20 to do all they planned on that day, they’d be back in 1-2 weeks. The troopers said Huff also told them he was ready to die for his rights and what he believed in, and that he would not consent to a search of his truck.
Then on April 21, Huff recorded a radio broadcast, talking about his traffic stop and saying he did have weapons and ammunition with him.

Figure this story out?

Interesting. Now why Madisonville, Tennessee of all places needs to be the origin of treason charges against the Mr. Obama, I am really having trouble figuring out. Further, putting the grand jury of said are under citizens arrest to push the matter of indicting Obama for treason is another step further away from anything I would call rational.

Now I do appreciate the man’s honesty. You have to give him that.

I wonder if these folks ever sat down and studied what it actually takes to pursue treason charges in the US. There have only been 15 people ever convicted of treason in the history of the US. The last one was in 1952. If they ever bothered to research that on statemiltitiamembers.org or cliffsguidetotheconstitution.net or wherever they are getting their information, they might resolve themselves to be upset and try to do something about it from within the system. If the grocery store stops carrying their brand of chewing tobacco, do they plan on burning it down as well?
I’m not completely convinced the man is crazy. To say he is uninformed or ignorant would be unquestionable.

Problem right there: they don’t think his real name is “Obama”.

Two Cases of Note. Nobody Believe Them.

Two cases.

One state legislator is in session for voting on an Abortion Related measure.  And as this takes place, he is watching a row of topless women on his computer screen.
Do you believe him?

I was just sitting there, bored as they were debating the abortion bill,’ Mr Bennett said. ‘I opened it up and said holy s***! What’s on my screen? and clicked away from it right away,’ he told the Sunshine State News.

Nobody seems to believe him.  Don’t know why.
Comments I see center around a defense, of sorts.  No hypocrisy is present because he voted against the Abortion Restrictions.  This is largely a matter of political culture cluster, I say.  For instance, theoretically there is nothing stopping an Atheist from being an opponent of Abortion.  Or a proponent of Funding for contraceptives.  Or someone who advocates against Restrictions for Porn.  A bit rare in political practice, though.

More overtly hypocritical is this guy.

His alibi is interesting.

Reached by New Times before a trip to Bermuda, Rekers said he learned Lucien was a prostitute only midway through their vacation. “I had surgery,” George Alan Rekers said, “and I can’t lift luggage. That’s why I hired him.” (Medical problems didn’t stop him from pushing the tottering baggage cart through MIA.)

Do you believe him?  Nobody seems to.  A hole in the story is present right from the start — he’s pushing his luggage himself.  Also, who goes to a website called “rentboy dot com) (They can’t buy publicity like this!) to get someone to push their luggage?

Faisal Shahzad, not the Shirt-taker off

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Dodged a Bullet.  Interestingly, I can not say that of the last instance of Failed Islamic Terrorism — the “Captain Underpants” caper, because that was a case of “Can’t Hit the Broad Side of a Barn” and mostly just showed the infeasibility of a particular terrorist tactic (though, I guess it holds a particular attraction as it’s the nearest re-creation of 9/11 available.)  With Faisal Shahzad’s botched attempt, I am back to my long-held thought: “I’m surprised we haven’t seen this already” — the “Car Bomb” is an oldie.  Then again, I may be missing something here — it’s not like I am ever going to sit down and sort through the logistics to this end.  The man apparently took classes in Pakistan that lead up to this attack.  He was not at the Top of His Class, apparently.

What’s interesting is that he is apparently co-operating in full.  It’s a ponder of some lines of Psychology.  I remember a “This American Life” episode with Israeli Interrogators asking failed Suicide Bombers, and marking one confession of Remorse as completely insincere and another as sincere.  Well, it’s a thought.  It may be that had he managed to escape, as we see he didn’t, he would have had a harder time to answer for his Great Failure.
Did he have his heart in this?

Worth noting:
“I thought I should call 911, but my English is not very good and I had no credit left on my phone, so I walked over to Lance, who has the T-shirt stall next to mine, and told him. He said we shouldn’t call 911. Immediately he alerted a police officer near by,” said Mr Niasse, who is originally from Senegal and who has been a vendor in Times Square for about eight years.

Chocolate Milk, you say?

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

An interesting observation from a Mississippi Congress-critter.

He described the spill as a light, rainbow sheen with patches that look like chocolate milk.

Who is Gene Taylor?  On the Conservative Fringe of Democratic House Members.  Skips a lot of Democratic Conventions.  Voted to Impeach Clinton.  All that.
Also makes a mental connection toward chocolate milk.
Here’s a picture of him, to spot him when watching C-SPAN — or whatever.

EDUCATION: First principles. We need to return to the first principles of our country; God, Patriotism, Flag, and Honor. Our Children should recite the Pledge of Allegiance in our schools. Young minds are learning. Let’s teach them the proper respect for our country.
His educational platform is the Recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance?

I guess I’ll highlight two things, some standard bombast.:
Why I am Running: Our Republic is being dismantled before our eyes.
And this “does not follow”:
While others have gone to Washington promising to bring back billions of dollars, I’ll go there to keep your money in your pocket by lowering taxes (follows), controlling spending, (follows) dismantling bureaucracy, (follows) securing our borders, (does not follow) promoting life, (does not follow) and improving the health care system (without destroying it). (Maybe; maybe not.)

Hm?
Stop bribery, corruption and political/media prostitutions. I’m running against Wyden because he is not honest, corrupted, useless, ignores, violates, doesn’t support and criminal contempt the Constitution of the USA He bailouts banks, AIG, GM and represents their interests.
Car Insurance is a Street Robbery. If no accident – 50% money back.  (I don’t understand how that system would work.)
I will make peace on the MiddleEast.  (Wrong Preposition?)
Support AARP, WillamWriters, Elks and NRA. (Eclectic?)

I have never been a politician, nor been someone interested in being a politician. I have never been very skilled at speaking out both sides of my mouth, or saying one thing and doing something totally opposite. Those traits don’t get you very far when you are self employed or a business owner.
Really?  Those skill sets don’t go with “Real Estate Broker”.
Does it make sense to:  -and others
No.  It does not make sense.

Now, to Multnomah County.  I will have to check out the other counties on a later date.
Wes Soderback
Resent tax increases will help but, as the recovery money dries up we could be in for another budgit crisis.
Almost sounds like a Tea Party Activist with that typo.

Media Opposites

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Obama made a Commencement speech.

“Still, if you’re someone who only reads the editorial page of The New York Times, try glancing at the page of The Wall Street Journal once in awhile.  If you’re a fan of Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh, try reading a few columns on the Huffington Post website,” Obama said. “It may make your blood boil; your mind may not often be changed. But the practice of listening to opposing views is essential for effective citizenship.”

I would also add that if you’re one who gets his/her news from “The Daily Worker”, pick up some John Birch Society pamphlets now and then.  Fortean Times?  I can’t help you.
