The Ron Paul — Alex Jones connection

Having gotten himself noticed and made a name for himself as somebody other than a man to be listed quickly in a long list of “also – runs”, I notice a bit of frettering by parts of the Ron Paul congregation (and you may use every term you desire from “supporters” to “cult members”) about some of his more… esoteric choices of media and associations.

An example
:

And not to be outdone, Ron Paul’s media coordinator was on the infamous Alex Jones show the other night. Seriously, I understand that radio shows from all viewpoints are frothing at the Ron Paul candidacy, but this is just another example – in my opinion – of ammunition the opposition can – and will – use. That’s like Ron Paul appearing on the David Duke show or something.

I am pretty sure I’ve covered the burgeoning little controversy over here, sometime before Ron Paul’s q-rating rose after that last debate, and the gradual dawn of the mainstream media that Ron Paul is kicking ass on the Internet. The chief point I came in in posting that blog entry still stands, which is that Ron Paul’s greetings on Alex goddamned Jones is in many ways no less odious than the conventional candidates frequent forays onto Tim goddamned Russert and the Establishment Think politics that predominate on shows such as.

But my general thought with Ron Paul and the Alex Joneses of the world — or the 9/11 Truthers of the world — or the Gold Standard advocate — or whoever — is that even if Ron Paul wanted to disassociate himself from any of this, the genie is out of the bottom and there is no sense in doing anything but steam-rolling straight ahead. Somebody has to create a coalition of Fringe Unity.

Yesterday, Ron Paul explicity disavowed the 9-11 truth movement by saying, in an interview with Reason magazine:

Reason: The position of the Student Scholars is that 9/11 was executed by the U.S. government. Do you agree or disagree with that?

Paul: I’d say there’s no evidence of that.

Reason: So what did you mean when you told Student Scholars you’d be open to a new 9/11 investigation?

Paul: Well, I think the more we know about what we went on is good. But I don’t think there’s any evidence of [an inside job] and I don’t believe that.

Even if you don’t agree w/ ron on everything – surely we can agree that he is brave and honorable to stand up against the neo-conservatives who are pro-war at any cost. If you are concerned about our aggressive foreign policy of “empire building”, “policing the world”, “pre-emptive strike” and going to war without declaring war (WWII was the last time we declared war as the constitution says we should) think about how many people needlessly die when we don’t declare war – yet we go over in North Korea, and Vietnam. If you stand against this dangerous direction you should support Ron Paul – even if you don’t vote for him (but please do–and you may need to register as a republican to do so – find out for your state) but even if you don’t, we should support the truth on the left and the right – so that we all move closer to rational foreign policy. yeah, i’m a total nerd, i know. good night.

The way I see it is, Alex Jones will have him on and treat him with respect, which few other radio shows will– why, I don’t know. He was on some show called “Brian and the Judge” on Monday, and I couldn’t believe how these idiotic co-hosts insulted their viewers.

They told a disabled Iraq war veteran that he couldn’t speak for the military, but for some reason they could. Those guys are considered “mainstream” talk show hosts, and although I think 9/11 Conspiracy theorists are completely misguided, I prefer Alex Jones to “Brian and the Judge” any day.

Judge Andrew Napolitano– who describes himself as a “pro-life libertarian” is anything but, because he wants Americans to die for Iraqi “freedom” and wants the government to run wars all around the world.

Why are these guys not controversial when they make fun of a disabled Iraq war veteran?????? What is not scandalous about ridiculing (and basically calling a liar) a young man who has fought for our freedoms overseas?

    THAT is the real scandal.

There is no justification whatsoever for throwing gold standard advocates in with “Truthers”. And you will NEVER find Ron Paul trying dissociate himself from sound money.

The media we have is the problem. They control, what you see, read and believe to certain degree. Alex Jones while I know nothing about him or his show at
least put a camera on the event and ask tough questions most politians would ignore. Ron Paul is loved in this country.
Ron Paul has more support than even he realizes and they come from all sides of all issues.
People are pulling at anything to discredit a man that puts his self on the line for Liberty night and day.

Ron is our last hope. They want to take away any possiblity of resisting there agenda. We must do something before we cannot even DEFEND our selves.

    We the people….NEVER FORGET.
