By being segmented away from these forums, we are effectively pushed out of the discourse of opinion-leaders. The result is that conventional wisdom is boiled down to statements like ‘Everyone thought that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq’ or ‘Everyone thought there would be surpluses before Bush’s tax cuts’.
