What I really wanted to find were the Republican Bush supporters who were supposed to be there. I know they in various crowds and shin-digs earlier in the day, but I guess I missed them. The closest I could find were two guys waving “Yah Bush” signs made out of discarded Budweiser Beer cardboard, but upon talking with them, they were clearly apolitical.
I heard a sign said “Wars are only good when Democrats fight them.” I should allow for the free expression of mixed messages, and not every every should fit squarely into their own camp or even in their own selves, but… that contradicts the old comment that “These guys wouldn’t support a war if the North Korean Army marched down and invaded Los Angeles!” (Also, I can fairly easily stack the deck in an unfair poll to show an even more disproportinate number of protesters who did not vote Democrat — based on signage and other factors of style and demenor*.)
Ah well. Our fearless Student Republicans, rebels that they consider themselves to be, are now freed to their earth-bound duty: enlightening their fellow students by publishing a student magazine with articles cribbed from the leading Right-wing magazines of the day.
(* Embarrassing was the sight of a sign that read “Wake Up America! 620 AM KPOJ”… who I will guess is “Democrat”.)
